UWC Georgia Regional visits 2024

22 November 2024

Expanding the outreach to the Georgian regions thanks to a grant from UWC International. We have already conducted visits to schools and youth centers in Guria and Kakheti.

This year we were lucky to expand the outreach to the Georgian regions! UWC Georgia received a grant from UWC International to visit schools and youth centers in Guria and Kakheti. Over the course of a few months our alumni and volunteers conducted presentations in collaboration with different local organizations.

“During our project, Pavle Tvaliashvili and I visited Kakheti to present UWC opportunities to children from the region. The local youth center warmly welcomed us, and we continued our communication afterward.

Aleko Jgarkava (UWCD’16) and I, both graduates of UWC Dilijan, were honored to represent UWC in Guria. We engaged with students and their teacher from Chibati village and Lanchkhuti. Our visit to Guria was particularly meaningful, as this mountainous region often limits students’ access to valuable opportunities.

Additionally, I had the opportunity to present UWC to teachers from eight regions and conducted a workshop with them at the Bulachauri camp.

The project conducted by UWC represents a transformative opportunity for rural students in Georgia, empowering them to realize their potential and make meaningful contributions to society. By providing access to quality education, fostering cultural exchange, and emphasizing leadership and social responsibility, UWC equips students with the skills and confidence to effect positive change in their communities. The experience not only broadens their horizons but also inspires them to return home as active global citizens committed to addressing local challenges and promoting sustainable development. Ultimately, UWC helps unlock the full potential of these young individuals, paving the way for a brighter future for themselves and their communities.”

We are happy to announce that during the following application period, more than 540 applications via UWC Georgia National Committee were opened! Now that the first stage of the selection is over, we are excited about meeting our applicants at the next stages. UWC strives to give unique educational opportunities to more talented young people, community leaders of the future. UWC Georgia extends its gratitude to all the donors and supporters, volunteers and partners who help us make our goals a reality.
